Readers of the Japanese Sankei Shimbun flatly refused to become a US shield against Russia and China

Readers of the Japanese newspaper Sankei Shimbun opposed the country's accession to the AUKUS bloc created by the US, Britain and Australia.

The publication published the news that the countries of the alliance, through unofficial channels, invited Japan to join the bloc. According to the newspaper, the military organization needs Tokyo's technology to create advanced weapons.

As stated in the material, the Japanese government is still assessing the possible consequences of joining AUKUS. Tokyo has bilateral cooperation agreements with each of the members of the bloc, while there are areas that the country cannot develop, for example, the construction of nuclear submarines. Therefore, the Japanese authorities are considering the option of limited interaction with the organization. Readers of the publication did not like the idea of the country joining AUKUS. They pointed out that this is a step towards escalation in the region, in which Japan will be at the forefront of confrontation with China and Russia.
