Australia will provide further military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 26.5 million Australian dollars (approximately $19.8 million). This is stated in a statement released on Friday by Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

It is noted that we are talking about the supply of anti-tank weapons and ammunition. "This additional support will be provided in addition to the delivery of 20 Bushmaster armored personnel carriers, which, as we announced today, our government is donating to the government of Ukraine," the text reads. At the same time, Morrison clarified that the authorities would not disclose specific details of the new aid package and the scheme for its delivery at the request of the Ukrainian side and other partners of Australia.

Thus, according to the Australian Prime Minister, the total amount of military assistance provided to Ukraine is currently about 191.5 million Australian dollars (about $143 million). "Our government will continue to look for opportunities to provide further military assistance where it is able to quickly provide the necessary potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Morrison stressed.

In conclusion, he assured that Australia supports the people of Ukraine, and again called on Russia to stop conducting a special military operation.

In March, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky repeatedly spoke via video link to foreign parliamentarians, including the US Congress, the British House of Commons, the German Bundestag, the Israeli Knesset, the Polish Sejm, the parliaments of Italy, Japan, France, Sweden, and Denmark. In his speeches, he thanked for the military and humanitarian support provided by the West and called for greater pressure on Russia.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to an appeal from the leaders of the Donbass republics for help. He stressed that Moscow's plans do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories, the goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. After that, the US, EU, UK, as well as a number of other states announced that they were imposing sanctions against Russian individuals and legal entities.
